Judge Seth Norman Recovery Foundation

People in a Meeting

In 2024, our foundation was renamed in honor of our founder Judge Seth Norman.

1996, our foundation was incorporated to help the substance abuse problem in our local criminal justice system.

Judge Seth Norman Recovery Foundation (JSNRF) is dedicated to supporting the therapeutic community approach to substance use disorders in the state of Tennessee. The therapeutic community approach was developed as a way to rebuild a broken system for non-violent offenders. Focusing on healing the whole person and strengthening our communities in Tennessee, our programs help residents identify behaviors that can lead to substance use disorders then implement a restorative approach to treatment and recovery. Residents learn to make positive changes in their lives through the support and guidance of fellow residents, staff members, and other community leaders all while giving back through community service.

Mission: The JSNRF promotes the Therapeutic Community model through long-term residential Recovery Court programs. These programs serve as an alternative to incarceration for persons with substance use and co-occurring disorders, while maintaining judicial supervision. The JSNRF is an integrated part of these programs, and supports the residential Recovery Courts through community activities that include advocacy, outreach, education, and program reviews.

JSNRF is an non-profit that supports integrated court programs that offer comprehensive recovery programming services to eligible non-violent felony offenders and carries out community activities that include advocacy, outreach and education, and program reviews.
